What is legalization and when we need it?

Legalization of documents is not an activity which requires a special permit or any other document. Any citizen can file and receive documents for legalization. However, the use of agency saves time because the agency knows all the procedures for legalization of various documents, the institutions, which validated their working hours and their respective charges.

What is the legalization of document?

This is an endorsement by signature, stamp and, in some cases marks legalization of Bulgarian or foreign document, issued by a state or municipal authority or a notary and notarized documents private. Validation is performed by certain state authorities such as ministries, courts and government agencies.

What is an official translation?

This is a translation that bears the signature of a certified translator, as well as a letter-head and stamp of a company, which signed an agreement with the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry for translating official documents.

What is a certified translation?

Official translation which bears certification from the Consular Section of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. A certified translation can only be done on an original, or a notary-certified copy of the original document, bearing the required signatures, stamps and certifications. A certified translation is made from Bulgarian into any other language and vice versa.



Who is a certified (authorized) translator?

A person with a very good knowledge of a foreign language and the respective education, who has signed a declaration before a Notary public stating that he\she is acquainted with the penalties he\she is subject to in case of a bad translation.The translator is registered with the Certification and Legalization Department with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as working for one or more companies authorized by the Foreign Ministry for translation of official documents.
